Of all of the Court cards, I often read the Swords Courts the most negatively. Usually, I read them as representing someone in your life who is causing you trouble be that an outsider, friend, family member, or even you yourself.

I understand that not all Tarot readers interpret the Swords Courts so negatively, so if you fall into this camp, feel free to mold my interpretation into something which makes sense for you.

Before you read my full interpretation below for what the King and Queen of Swords mean when they appear together, remember that I may interpret them differently for every reading; this is only a general guide. For example, sometimes I would read Court cards as outside people but other times I would read them as representing the seeker (the person getting the reading). Keep that in mind when reading the below interpretation!

The King and Queen of Swords in a General Tarot Reading

In general readings, I would interpret the King and Queen of Swords together as representing a couple who wish to do you harm. These individuals do not want what is best for you and have plotted together to try and destroy your goals.

In my experience, I have found that the Queen and King of Swords usually symbolizes two people who operate together in some way. For example, they may be two people at your place of employment, a romantic couple, or your parents.

The King and Queen of Swords in a love Tarot reading combination

It is entirely possible that the King and Queen of Swords negatively impact you but do not mean to do so. Your parents may be the type who is constantly giving you ‘constructive criticism’. What they feel is them helping you by being realistic, is actually not; they are shooting down your dreams. In these situations, your parents would appear as the King and Queen of Swords.

The King and Queen of Swords Together in a Love Tarot Reading

If the King and Queen of Swords appear together in a love reading, this can indicate two things; it can mean that outsiders are a bad influence on your relationship, or that you and your partner are both negative influences on each other.

If you’re finding that other people are quick to meddle in your relationship, then the King and Queen of Swords can represent these individuals. This interpretation is especially fitting if you or your lover’s parents both nit-pick at your partnership.

Alternatively, if you and your lover both have children to other people it is not unknown for those individuals to appear as the King and Queen of Swords, especially if they are causing you both trouble.

However, I have found that (in most cases) the Queen and King of Swords appear together in love or relationship readings because they symbolize both you and your partner.

Individuals appear as Swords Courts in relationship readings when they are unhappy. They no longer feel the same way they used to feel about their lover, and just ‘go through the motions’. The relationship lacks fun, excitement, and passion. Although this combination does not predict you will separate, it does not look good to have it in your love reading.

The King and Queen of Swords in a Career Tarot Reading

Are you in business? Then the Queen and the King of Swords represent your competitors. It is very possible that your biggest hurdle towards business success is your competitors; they are giving your ideal customer something which you are not supplying so stalk the competition and try to decipher what that thing might be.

Alternatively, if you are in a relationship the King and Queen of Swords together in your career reading is a sign that your partnership is having a negative impact on your career. If this is the case, you may want to make changes to your love life so that it doesn’t interfere in other places that are of importance to you.

Finally, in career readings, I have found that the King and Queen of Swords together most often represent your boss/bosses. This combination is a warning that those in charge wish to see you fail. Do not put all of your career eggs in one basket, especially if you do not feel as though your current job is secure.

King of Swords Love Tarot Meaning

King of Swords Love Tarot Meaning

Logic is the King of Swords love Tarot meaning. He is overly intelligent and uses his brains to get one over on his enemies. Known for being quick-witted and sharp, he can hold a position of considerable responsibility (although not necessarily). The King of Swords is someone who has experience in arguments and debates.

In some Tarot card decks, the King of Swords is called the Father of Swords. However, the Tarot card meaning of the Father of Swords and the King of Swords is the same.

Court cards can appear as you or another individual in your life, and the King of Swords is no acceptation. If he appears in an outcome position, it can mean that you will meet a King of Swords character in the future who will help or hinder the situation.

If the King of Swords represents another person, it can be a warning that you are harshly judged and assessed by a King of Swords type of character. This man is watching what you are doing with great interest. The King may be a person of official authority, like a teacher or professor, but he can also be a lover, father, or close family member.

The King has a tendency for being highly manipulative. He knows how people work, what makes them tick, and how he can bring them over onto his side. You may or may not be fooled by the King, but that doesn’t mean that other people aren’t.

However, the King has his good traits. Sometimes this Tarot card can mean that you have to separate yourself from your feelings. You must use your mind, not your heart, to navigate the situation and turn it to your advantage.

King of Swords Love Tarot Meaning

In a love reading, the King of Swords can represent your partner. While I would not say that it is desirable to have this King as your lover, some people are attracted to his personality.

In the feelings department, The King is cold and detached. His love life is not his priority. At times, he can appear inconsiderate and aloof. He is the type of man who cares more about other things (social standing, career) than he does his romantic relationships. Even if The King of Swords likes the thought of having a family, he cannot give the emotional energy it takes to sustain a happy one.

However, for whatever reasons, some people like having a partner who is emotionally detached and reserved. If this is you, then you’ll be well suited to the King of Swords. If not, then he is not your guy.

King of Swords Feelings Tarot Meaning

Your lover is not the type of person who deals with feelings. They see this relationship from a purely logical standpoint. I do not take the King of Swords to be positive when it appears as a feeling or intention because, for me, it highlights the fact that your partner is not feeling with their heart, but thinking with their head.

King of Swords Future Tarot Meaning

If the King of Swords appears in the outcome position of a love or relationship Tarot reading, it can mean that you will discover your partner has many of the same traits as this King. In the future, you will learn that your partner is cold, aloof, and detached but also intelligent and logical.

Alternatively, the King of Swords can also appear in the outcome of your love Tarot reading to symbolize an individual who is going to interfere in your relationship. If you are married, it is even possible that the King of Swords represents a divorce lawyer.

King of Swords as a Negative, Weakness or Obstacle

When the King of Swords appears as a negative, weakness, or obstacle, in a Tarot spread position, this can mean that there is someone in your life who uses their intellectual power for evil. This person is very manipulative and judgmental.

In some cases, you may be the King of Swords. You think that you are better than others and it shows. Try to be a little more humble. Also, if you’re in a position of authority, do not take advantage of your position. Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

King of Swords as a Positive, Strength or Advantage

In a positive Tarot reading, the King of Swords can indicate that you are someone who is highly intellectual with good reasoning skills. You are very intelligent, wise, and just. These are very good traits to have, and this is why they appear as a positive, strength, or advantage in your Tarot spread.

The King of Swords can also pop up as a strength, advantage etc. if you can weigh up your situation objectively. You do not get too emotionally involved and see situations, people, relationships, and opportunities for the way they really are.
